PLENARY –
- As an opening plenary : thought provoking, raising many aspects of the conference topic. Minimum level of welcome messages and speeches are requested.
- As an orientation plenary (before the first day of sessions, 20 minutes): a direct and clear description of the session work principles for the participants (see, below). It is a kind of “pressure” for outcome orientation – Chris has undertook this job.
- As closing plenary : summary of the session work by output orientation. Statements of messages and suggestions.
PANEL DISCUSSION –
- a tightly defined topic under discussion, where 4-5 people, the panel members, are invited to summerize in short their views. After each opinion the panel members share their reactions as well as the exchange of ideas is also open to the public. Questions and remarks are welcome, and the whole discussion is facilitated.
SESSIONS –
- the evolutionary principle : Session rooms are open to those sent in papers that are close to each other in the topic, and hence these papers offer a good base for sharing the views of different authors on the same aspect of the action for the future via interplay of generations. By receiving the abstracts the organizing team has structured them or let us say “sessioned” them, creating a preliminary structure that reflects the 22 topics suggested formerly on the conference website. The participants can restructure it on the web in an evolutionary way, with the help of the session chair.
- the pre-discussion principle : All abstracts will be available on the conference website, structured both by session and in an alphabetical order of authors. This way the participants can meet the abstracts, contact directly their authors and start a discussion on the conference website discussion forum, where all session have a “roundtable”.
- the content orientation principle : Papers reflecting very many disciplines and aspects are welcome in the conference. However, it is requested that all research results should highlight their consequences to the conference topic. That is the possibilities and forms of action for the future via the interplay of generations. Session work should focus on the multidisciplinary discussion of some core issues on the same topic.
- the outcome orientation principle : The aim of the sessions is to collect a wide range of information, to select critical issues and to form possible answers and actions to be taken in the determined scope of the interaction of generations. Thus the following guidelines are to be followed during the sessions: Indepth knowledge – Critique – Design – Modes of action. All presentations will take place in the first day of the session work with questions and discussions highlighting their relevance to the conference topic. The second day the session members will only focus on core questions resulting from the presentations, which relate to the drivers of and action orientation for generational interplay. Clear messages and practical suggestions are requested to be the outcomes.
- the facilitator principle : The chairing of each session means more a facilitation on discussions and workshops. All sessions will be co-chaired by a younger colleague, who helps filtering and structuring the session work and will represent the messages in the following two days of the Budapest Futures Course (25-26 Aug). The chair and the younger colleague will together present the session work at the closing plenary. The young co-chair is a Budapest Futures Course participant and.
All in all, based on the given principles the participants will create their own conference. This way we expect that the most relevant topics will organize a discussion for themselves, which is one means for the outcome orientation.
FORUMS - In the case of very unique papers or research reports that are not in direct relationship with the Conference topic, as well as for hot WFSF listserv topics roundtable discussion forums will be set up. The authors can present their results, thoughts and can facilitate an open discussion with all those who are interested and visit the round table. An active participant in hot topic listserv discussions will be invited to facilitate the continuation of the discussion. All round tables are in one open space. The forums are organized upon schedule and given operational rules.
POSTER SESSIONS - For reports, company introduction and short presentations of students posters are available. Please contact us if you wish to present a poster too.
