How to get around
Conference venue:
Recommended Hotels :
You can find a small map with all the locations on our website www.budapestfutures.org > Practical information > Conference Venue.
From the airport:
The easiest way is to get on a minibus called LRI at the airport. The minibus takes all the passengers directly to their hotels and it charges a reasonable price (HUF 2300/one way or HUF 3900/roundtrip ticket). The minibus can be asked for at the airport upon arrival (there is a big minibus sign at the airport, it is hard to miss). On the way back to the airport you can order the minibus at the hotel - so the roundtrip ticket is reasonable choice. There is also local transport to the city center but these buses run rarely and are not very comfortable...
Of course, you can also take a taxi to the city center. The taxi should cost you around 4000-4500 HUF and it is advisable to call one (for example: City Taxi, 36/1 2111111)
From the Keleti train station:
Get on bus 7 (in direction to Bornemissza tér), 7A (in direction to Albertfalva) or 7/173 (in direction to Etele tér, Kelenföldi pu). Get off at Astoria and you find yourself right in the city center. From there, take tram 47 (in direction to Budafok, Városház tér) or 49 (in direction to Etele tér, Kelenföldi pu.). For Hotel Mercure Budapest Korona and Ibis Budapest Centrum take off at the first stop called Kálvin tér. At the second stop called Fővám tér, you find the Corvinus University . For the Students' Hostel, get off at the forth stop called Bertalan Lajos utca and walk up the hill. For Griff Hotel Budapest take tram 49 and get off at the seventh stop called Csóka utca.
From the Nyugati train station :
Take the subway, M3 in direction to Kőbánya-Kispest and get off at the forth station called Kálvin tér. Hotel Mercure Budapest Korona and Ibis Budapest Centrum are located right there.
For all the other locations, take tram 47 (in direction to Budafok, Városház tér) or 49 (in direction to Etele tér, Kelenföldi pu.). At the first stop called Fővám tér, you find the Corvinus University . For the Students' Hostel, get off at the third stop called Bertalan Lajos utca and walk up the hill. For Griff Hotel Budapest take tram 49 and get off at the seventh stop called Csóka utca.
About public transportation :
In order to use public transportation, first you need to buy tickets at ticket offices, kiosks or newsstands. Single tickets cost 170 HUF, a coupon book including 10 tickets costs 1450 HUF. It is also possible to buy tickets at the driver, however it will cost you more (200HUF/single ticket). The same tickets can be used for all kind of transports. Second, when you get on the vehicle, you need to validate your ticket at the funny-looking yellow or red boxes :)
If you are going to spend longer time in Budapest it is worth to visit the website of the Hungarian Public Transport Company (www.bkv.hu) where you can find additional information about different tickets and passes in English.
